AI Use Declaration

Give this declaration with every assessed submission, under the AI Use in Assessment Policy (DAIS-POL-023, section 23.4, and section 23.8 for OTHM qualifications).

Your assignment brief states an AI permission level for the task. On an OTHM qualification, the level is stated in the task instructions on the VLE, because the OTHM brief itself is not altered. At levels 0, 1 and 2 you must declare how you used AI, or confirm that you did not use it. At level 3 the task asks you to use AI and you document that inside the work itself, so a declaration here is welcome and not required. On an OTHM qualification, you give this declaration with every submission, at every level. Declaring AI use is not an admission of anything: using it within the level the brief allows is permitted. Not declaring it is what causes a problem. On an OTHM qualification, declaring a use does not make it acceptable if the tool did work that the assessment asks you to do yourself.

Your details

The task

As it appears on the VLE, for example Unit 03.

Optional, but it helps your assessor find the right task.

Every task states one. If you cannot find it, say so and we will put it right.

Your use of AI

Did you use AI tools on this task?

Name them, for example ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Gemini. Leave blank if you did not use AI.

Be specific: what you asked for, and what you did with the answer. Honest detail here protects you. Leave blank if you did not use AI. On an OTHM qualification, also give the prompts you entered, what the tool produced, how you checked or changed it, and which parts of your work it affected. Keep your prompts and a copy or screenshot of the output, and submit them if your assessor asks.

Declaration

  1. I have said above whether I used AI tools on this task, which tools I used, and how I used them.
  2. The work I am submitting is substantially my own. I understand all of it and I can explain any part of it if I am asked.
  3. I understand that submitting work at a higher level of AI use than the brief allows is malpractice, and is investigated under the Malpractice, Maladministration and Plagiarism Policy, DAIS-POL-010.
