NCFE Level 4 Award in Programming (PHP)

A focused Level 4 credential in PHP, professional server-side programming skills for the web that powers most of the internet.

Duration: 65 guided learning hours; self-paced online study

Course overview

This Level 4 Award gives learners the knowledge and skills to support progression into employment in a programming role, specialising in PHP. Across two mandatory units, learners study professional programming concepts and then apply them in PHP, writing, testing and refining real code.

PHP remains the backbone of the web, powering WordPress, Laravel applications and a large share of all websites. This compact higher-level award is designed for career changers and professionals who want a recognised Level 4 credential without committing to a full diploma. Delivery is 100% online with tutor support.

Assessment is through an internally assessed, externally quality assured portfolio of evidence, with no exams. The award supports progression to our Level 4 and 5 diplomas and further web development study.
